My Story
I began my journey into Fine Art Restoration in 1995 at a gallery in Marietta, Georgia where I apprenticed for a number of years before venturing out on my own. I have since gone on to restore paintings, antique photographs, and the occasional object for numerous well respected galleries, designers, restoration businesses, and private collectors in the Metro Atlanta area and beyond.
While learning the craft of painting restoration I simultaneously began working to create a method of restoring antique photographs as undetectable as possible by hand on the original so that the client returns home with their cherished photograph intact rather than a scan and digital adjustment to create a new print, whenever possible.
Objects restored have been made primarily from wood and plaster. I am adept at French Matting as well as the hand coloring of antique prints using traditional historic colors on pieces such as maps, architectural, botany, wildlife, and Kips views. I have worked as a buyer, locating the style and era of paintings desired by client for both collecting as well as resale. Please let me know if you are a Dealer or Designer!~ Rena S. Edgar
